The Whitson Memorial Tennis Court was dedicated on October 3. Bruce Voncannon and many other local dignitaries were present. There was excellent media coverage for the event. The court is finished except for applying the final surface which will happen in April when all of the old courts will be rebuilt. Modern tennis lighting was installed on the Whitson court and existing courts numbers 7 & 8. New lights will also be installed on the old courts in the spring. The Pro Shop will also be redone. Construction on the final phase of the project is being delayed to April to assure reliable weather which should help to keep the six old courts closed for play for only 60 days.
